Jessica Chastain may be an Academy Award-winning actress, but she celebrated her first wedding anniversary with Armani PR Director Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo just like the rest of us would: with dinner and a show.
The couple marked their marital milestone with a romantic date night in New York City, where they saw the Tony Award-winning play The Band's Visit and shared a special meal together, People reports. “It was a lot of fun!” the Zero Dark Thirty star told People at the New York premiere of her new film, Woman Walks Ahead.
And as for how things are going for the couple now that they have one year of marriage under their belts? “I feel even more happy being married in some strange way,” she said. “I was told that the first year of marriage would be really difficult and people warned me, but actually it’s incredible.”
The couple wed in 2017 at an intimate ceremony at Passi de Preposulo's family's Italian estate after five years of dating. The guest list was as stunning as the destination, and included A-listers like Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, and Chastain's Zero Dark Thirty costar Edgar Ramirez.
"The wedding was stunning," a source told E! News at the time of the event. "Jessica's dress was perfect, and you could tell she was very nervous walking down the aisle. The food was delicious."
Though Chastain is over the moon in marital bliss, she hadn't actually planned to walk down the aisle at all. “I never wanted to get married,” she told WSJ. Magazine in an interview earlier this year. That is, until she met Passi de Preposulo.
“When I first met my husband, he knew that marriage wasn’t something I was interested in,” Chastain said. “And then as we got to know each other, the idea of marriage shifted for me. There are some things worth celebrating — and he’s worth celebrating.”
