J-Rod, as Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez fans like to call them, have been together since 2017 and from the outside looking in, their relationship has always looked equal parts glamorous, fun, and incredibly loving. So it wasn't exactly a surprise when the two announced last month that they were engaged. They even let us in on some intimate (and insanely gorgeous) photos of the surprise proposal on the beach in the Bahamas.

Honestly, we'd probably look that shocked too if someone presented us with a 15-carat engagement ring.

But Lopez revealed in a new interview radio interview that she had some hesitation about walking down the aisle again. This, after all, will be her fourth marriage and Rodriguez's second. (They also both have children from previous relationships.) Plus, every bit of relationship drama gets amplified by the press.

“[I was] very weary after everything that I’ve been through,” Lopez said per People. “I was like, ‘I don’t know, maybe yes, maybe no. I really love him, I like him.’ Everything just seemed almost too perfect too soon—so it almost made me a little like, ‘Hey, wait, what’s happening here? Let me just wait a second.'”

But she added, “When it happened, I think it was the right time.”

To fans, the pair has seemed like a perfect match from the start. “I couldn’t be happier!” Lopez continued. “It’s great to have a best friend and a partner that you can really build with, and I just feel like with Alex and I, that’s what it’s like. We’re both really similar. It was just like, having somebody who understands you from the inside, as far as like: I really love what I do, and I really want to work hard at it and understand that. It doesn’t mean that I don’t love you, we love each other, but we’re doing this together.”

Guess it really is all about the right timing. Now, can we get a wedding date on the books please?
