Looks like Jennifer Hudson is in no rush to walk down the aisle. During her Wednesday appearance at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the singer and actress opened up about her nine-year engagement to fiancé David Otunga, and confessed she doesn't mind the long wait to being husband and wife.
"No rush to get married?" Ellen asked, to which Hudson responded, "I'm not in a rush. He ain't going nowhere." When asked if she was happy, she simply responded, "Yes."
That's the way to put it, Jen!
The American Idol alum got engaged to the former professional wrestler in 2008, and a year later, welcomed their two-year-old son David Daniel Otunga, Jr. Although make no mistake, the 35-year-old has experienced wedding fever on occasion, namely after Ciara and Russell Wilson's nuptials in England back in July.
"It's been a thought obviously," she previously told Essence magazine back in August. "After being at Ciara's wedding, I'm like, OK. I don't know, it inspired something. I just loved her dress. It was so beautiful. So that made me say, OK, all [of] my friends and peers are married now. You know what I mean?"
Unfortunately, tragedy struck for Hudson shortly after her engagement after her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found fatally shot in their Chicago home. Her seven-year-old nephew, Julian King, was also found dead in the backseat of a car. The singer credited her fiancé for "saving her life," revealing that she also would've been in the Chicago home if it weren't for visiting Otunga in Florida.
“I flew out to see him; that’s why I’m still here," she revealed to Ebony in 2008. "I’ve never said that before, and I can’t believe I just said that now. But I didn’t know. He was just like, ‘I’m going to this wrestling thing, and it’s in Tampa. I’m going out there now, so you can come out there and see me versus going home.’"
