If you watched the royal wedding last month (because why wouldn't you?), you probably caught a glimpse of talk show host James Corden making his way to St. George's Chapel with his pretty-in-pink wife in tow. But what you didn't see, however, was Corden slip into something a little more....regal...at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's evening wedding reception.
Corden adhered to the royal wedding dress code set in the couple's invitations, but his reported reception look went a bit off the beaten path (to say the least), with rumors circulating that he dressed as King Henry VIII during the exclusive celebration (if the crown fits...). While other wild speculations regarding the notorious nuptials have since been debunked (i.e. that beer pong tournament), this one actually seems to hold true, according to Corden himself.
The Late Late Show frontman spilled the behind-the-scenes royal wedding deets to People, confessing that he did, in fact, have a kingly outfit change.
"In the evening, there was...185 people I think, like a smaller dinner, close friends and family," he explained of the private wedding reception, held at Frogmore House. "And Harry asked if I would do like a performance of some kind. And so I did it, yeah. It wasn’t really dressed as Henry VIII, it was just dressed in a kind of Tudor outfit. But I guess I look a bit like Henry VIII, so that’s probably why."
There you have it, folks. And, we must admit, the Carpool Karaoke host does slightly bear resemblance to this former monarch.
Harry and Meghan banned any photo-taking device, including cell phones, from their wedding reception, which is why Corden's entertainment (that likely ignited a few chuckles from even Queen Elizabeth) has never graced the public eye. Otherwise, had there been photo evidence, the 39-year-old comedian would have undoubtedly landed on our list of the best dressed royal wedding guests of all time. But, either way, props to Corden for truly getting in the royal mindset for Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding.
