Celebrity chef Cat Cora wed producer Nicole Ehrlich at the Villa Verano Estate in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday, and celebrated the occasion with a massive, six-layer wedding cake.
Not only was the confectionery masterpiece absolutely beautiful, but it was also designed for the sweetest reason: Each layer was meant to represent one of the couple's six children. Ahead of the wedding, the couple held a contest and asked bakers from around the country to submit designs for their wedding cake. The winner, Lexie Verburggen from The Sweetified Bakery in Florida, won $1,000 and a one-night trip to Santa Barbara, Us Weekly reports. The cake was made of white mousse with vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream frosting, which means it likely tasted just as good as it looked. "You’ve never tasted wedding cake like this 🍰,” the couple wrote on Instagram ahead of the wedding.
The cake wasn't the only thing worth gushing over from Cora and Ehrlich's special day. The pair, who has been together since 2017, wore dresses from famed Kleinfeld Bridal (a.k.a. the Say Yes to the Dress store), with Cora in a design by Pnina Torna and Ehrlich in a gown by Maison Signore. In addition to the six-layer cake, guests also snacked on sushi and cupcakes. The couple also had personalized handkerchiefs in honor of their "something blue."
“Today was such a magical day. I married the love of my life, Nicole Ehrlich, in front of all of our family and closest friends,” Cat Cora told US of the wedding. “To share our love and commitment to one another, alongside our six sons, was a dream come true. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!” And plus, that cake!
The good news about a cake that big? Plenty left over to freeze and eat on your first anniversary...and share with the whole family.
