Jessica Minnaert, 38, met Tammy Klein, 31, in October 2007 when she was assigned to train the new hire (Tammy!) at her office. The colleagues became fast friends, and in December 2009, they turned their relationship into romance. Then, in August 2013, after more than four years of dating, Tammy surprised Jessica with her dream proposal. "She decorated our apartment with my favorite flowers, then proposed on the street corner where we had our first kiss," says Jessica.
For their September 6, 2014 wedding, Jessica and Tammy invited 48 guests to Boston's Legal Harborside restaurant for an outdoor ceremony and seafood dinner. Keep reading to see how Chad Hansen of First Mate Photography Co., captured their whimsical day on the water, as planned by Emily Starr Alfano of mStarr Event Design.
Planner Emily designed a geometric heart for the couple's save-the-date cards, then had the invitation suite printed by Gus & Ruby Letterpress. Jessica and Tammy loved the graphic so much that the himmelis (a diamond-shaped mobile) became an inspiration for the event.
While the brides went dress shopping separately, they both decided on classic white sheaths by J. Crew (strapless for Tammy, sleeveless for Jessica). For added flair, Tammy paired her gown with strands of pearls and Jessica rocked a chunky gold and diamond necklace.
The bridal bouquets were a seriously stunning mix of blooms in a variety of colors and textures.
As a special gift, the couple gave immediate family members boutonnieres, nosegays, and corsages designed by Petal Floral Design.
The brides exchanged personalized vows on the restaurant's balcony with whimsical floral arrangements and the Boston Harbor as a backdrop. "We wanted a venue that would showcase the city where we fell in love," says the couple.
On the escort card table, guests found their names calligraphed on strips of linen, which were tied to small glass bottles.
Jessica and Tammy love the social aspect of going out to eat so they arranged everyone at two long tables for dinner. The group feasted on a New-England style menu of jumbo shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, and pan-roasted cod.
The couple added pops of colors to the white tabletops with flowers, pastel goblets, straw placemats, and Ikat print napkins.
The napkins were folded to coordinate with the triangle-shaped menu.
Gold table numbers were placed inside gold himmelis fixtures. The guest book was also in the same mod shape.
The naked carrot cake was topped with fresh flowers and displayed under streamers made of succulents.

Before honeymooning in Aruba, the newlyweds ended the night in the photo booth with friends, heart-shaped glasses, and metallic balloons that spelled out L-O-V-E! "We're so happy that we had some casual, fun memories captured in addition to the formal wedding shots," says the couple.
