It was a party fit for a princess: Princess Eugenie's two-day wedding reception featured pizza, carnival rides, and celebrity performances. As if you weren't already disappointed about not scoring an invite...
Following her nuptials to Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Friday, October 12, Princess Eugenie and her new husband headed to a lunchtime reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth with 800 of their wedding guests. The luncheon took place at St. George’s Hall's Waterloo Chamber on the Windsor Castle grounds—just like at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding. The guests, including Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, dined on light, easy-to-eat fare like mini bites of beef in Yorkshire pudding and Scotch eggs.
They also reportedly drank Pol Roger champagne.
Both Prince Andrew, Duke of York and the groom gave speeches during the reception. Andrew had a little fun at his new son-in-law’s expense, getting laughs from the crowd. “The Duke told a story about their dog Jack [a Norfolk terrier],” a source told People. “One day, I think it was early in the relationship, he shouted, ‘Jack, get off the chair!’ And the dog didn’t move. But Jack did!”
Meanwhile, Brooksbank thanked everyone for coming out to the wedding. "He did what grooms do!” said the guest.
Later, at the couple's evening reception hosted by Prince Andrew at The Royal Lodge, Robbie Williams, whose six-year-old daughter Theodora served as one of Eugenie's bridesmaids during the ceremony, serenaded the guests with his hit song “Angels” and other pop songs. "The crowd sang along," a source at the reception told People.
And, in true 'give the people what they want' fashion, a gourmet pizza truck provided pizzas for hungry guests to munch on, while Casamigos, George Clooney and Rande Gerber's tequila brand, provided margaritas. (The groom was a brand manager for the tequila brand before the company was sold for $1 billion last year.)
The following day (yes, the wedding festivities lasted two whole days), the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed an honest-to-goodness wedding carnival at Windsor Great Park. The outdoor space featured festival rides, such as a ferris wheel and custom carousel (seen here on guest Irene Forte's Instagram), games, and plenty of yummy carnival treats. According to People, day two also included a performance from singer Ellie Goulding. She previously performed at Kate Middleton and Prince William's 2011 wedding reception, making her a bonafide pro at royal receptions.
The Daily Mail also reports that Princess Eugenie exchanged her Peter Pilotto ceremony dress and her Zac Posen evening reception dress for something far more casual for Saturday's festivities: a white mini dress, paired with a personalized pink jacket by designer Sam Dougal that read 'Mrs. Brooksbank' on the back.
Is she the coolest royal bride ever, or what?
