Don't have the funds to give your home or apartment a much-needed sprucing up? Say the words "hjälp mig" three times and tap your shoes together. Or, let Ikea know. That's probably a lot more practical.
The Swedish furniture chain is beginning a fourth season of its popular Home Tour series, which gives interior makeovers to every type of living space under the sun — whether it's a small apartment, a kid-friendly living room, or a shared bedroom. In terms of format, the show features a five-person design squad whose job is to help families tackle "home challenges with design makeovers that have smart solutions to make everyday life at home better," or in layman's terms, they're going to totally transform your tiny space into something that you'll like a whole lot more. "We're on the road helping America improve life at home with simple design solutions," the show summed up on its website.
This all sounds fine and dandy — we all enjoy a HGTV-style series on occasion — but the main reason we're bringing Home Tour to your attention is that Ikea is currently looking for people to be featured on the series. Specifically, they're looking for folks with small living quarters in the four metro areas of Philadelphia, New York City and New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Boston to apply, which you can do at this link here. All you need to do is concisely explain why you think you're worthy of getting a home makeover — be as creative as you like! — and then submit the short application by the respective city deadlines. Easy stuff.
"Everyone deserves a comfortable home that fits their lifestyle and supports their dreams and aspirations," Home Tour's project manager said in a statement. "The Home Tour videos are meant to inspire consumers and help them realize that they can easily and affordably update their living spaces to reflect their personal needs and tastes."
So, what are you waiting for, East Coasters?
