More and more couples are spending their post-wedding vacay exploring the romantic open roads of the U.S.. So why not grab your new hubby and escape to the mountains for a cozy retreat? Here, some of the sexiest and most romantic itineraries in Montana and Wyoming.

Day 1 Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

This cool mountain-resort area is swarming with celebs (think Pippa Middleton, Harrison Ford A-list level); splurge on a suite at the sexy-sleek Amangani (doubles from $750; Amangani). Then it's a 20-minute drive to Grand Teton National Park for a hike around the emerald waters of Phelps Lake. After dark, try the buffalo bone marrow at Snake River Grill, and party like a (fancy) gaucho at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, where Willie Nelson and John Mayer have played.

Day 2 Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming and Montana

The first national park is the place for an American "safari": Wolves, bears, elk, and bison can all be spotted (at a safe distance). Grab an early breakfast at Persephone Bakery in Jackson before the one-and-a-half-hour trip to Yellowstone's south entrance. Hit must-Instagram spots like Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful. After more scenic turns on the Grand Loop, arrive at your next stop, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch (doubles from $790, including meals, with three-night minimum; Mountain Sky Guest Ranch), a luxe 10,000-acre retreat that's adults only during spring and fall.

Day 3 Paradise Valley, Montana

Stay close to home for an adventure-filled day: Shoot clay pigeons, sip microbrews in the saloon, or chill on the porch of your wood cabin until the dinner bell rings.

Day 4 Paradise Valley and Yellowstone National Park, Montana

Break out your cowboy hat; Mountain Sky's full-day horseback excursion is an ideal way to see the park. Book a massage before you saddle up, because you're going to need it later. (Sorry.) If riding's not your thing, opt for fly-fishing on Yellowstone River — one of America's great trout streams — or book a river float trip so you can literally drift the day away, surrounded by nature.

Day 5 Paradise Valley, Montana

Make the hour-long drive to the airport in Bozeman less bittersweet with a pit stop at Chico Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa for lunch and a soak.
