Not looking for sand and surf on your honeymoon? That doesn't mean there aren't a variety of resort options to choose from. Here are some fabulous locales for both city lovers and couples wanting to get away from it all.
1. Paris, France
If you love culture and cuisine, it's hard to resist the call of the Louvre — home to many of the world's most important pieces of artwork — and romantic brasseries and bistros helmed by some of the best chefs in the world.
Side Note: Plan a day trip to Versailles to walk the incredibly ornate grounds.
2. Tokyo, Japan
While marriage may be a strange, long ride, nothing compares to the fantasy of Japan, where anime inspires the dress and the flavors of the food will change how you look at eating forever. Yes, it's an expensive trip, but one that requires the kind of time you may only allow yourselves on your honeymoon.
*Side Note: *Our advice: Splurge on business class if at all possible.
3. Napa Valley, California
It's close to home, beautiful, and has lovely little hotels, the best wine in the nation, and some of the top-rated restaurants in North America.
*Side Note: *Hire a driver so you can both taste the samples at every winery.
4. Scottsdale, Arizona
This desert paradise offers cacti and red rocks instead of white foam and snorkeling. You can hike into the hills, or take a hot-air ride over the mountains and finish the day with prickly pear margaritas and tacos.
Side Note: Don't come in the peak of summer, unless you want to know what it feels like to melt.
5. Las Vegas, Nevada
Celebrity chef restaurants, flashy shows, and clubs like you have never seen before — there's no denying that Vegas is fun and exciting for newlyweds.
Side Note: Make all your reservations in advance. Being spontaneous may sound "very Vegas" but all it takes is one convention to make you feel locked out of all the best stuff if you didn't make prior arrangements.
