Does she want to come to ours instead?

She might’ve played some monarchs throughout her prolific cinematic career, but that, sadly, won’t earn Helen Mirren an automatic royal wedding invite.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, the dame admitted she likely won’t be in attendance for the upcoming wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—simply because, as any reasonable adult may surmise, she doesn’t know the couple well enough to be granted a coveted invitation. Would you like to come to our wedding instead, Helen? Because, let’s be real, who wouldn’t want this dame at their nuptials?!

Despite the potential guest-list snub, Mirren has met with members of the royal family on multiple occasions, and she said she’s always had positive, and sometimes humorous, interactions with them. "I was at an awards thing or something, and William was presenting, and he knew that I was in the room and he said, 'I’ve got to be really, really good because my granny is in the house,'" she recalled in one memorable meeting. "So, he kind of knew who I was. But I don’t know them. I’ve met Harry, I’ve met the queen briefly, and I’ve met William." And as for both princes, she has nothing but kind words to say about them: "They’re both unbelievably charming, very straightforward, very charming, and a great credit to their father, I think."

As for the royal wedding itself, we already have a good deal of information regarding the May 19 nuptials. The ceremony is going to be held at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, which will be much smaller than William and Kate’s Westminster Abbey wedding (by many hundreds of attendees, at least). The wedding will also indeed be televised for all of your binge-watching pleasure. But when it comes to details such as the exact design of Markle’s dress and which family member will accompany her down the aisle, it seems all of us—including Helen Mirren—will just have to wait and see.
