What's the easiest — and most affordable! — way to make your skin look healthier and radiant for your big day? A humble glass (or eight) of H20! Water is the first and foremost beauty treatment, says New York dermatologist Jeanette Graf. Here's how to make the most of it.
Get that glow.
You're stressed. You're busy. You're tired. But your skin doesn't have to look that way! Dehydration is directly reflected in your skin (think dullness, dryness, and general blah-ness). Water to the rescue! It will help maintain your energy level for all of the planning and festivities and help your complexion look brighter and better. "Drinking water keeps everything in your body moving, so it helps the lymphatic system to push out impurities, it delivers necessary nutrients, and it drains and expels impurities that are making skin look dull, says Graf.
The ideal amount of water is at least three to four liters of filtered water every day. If you're having trouble downing that much, try drinking it at room temperature (which can make it easier to consume). Or add in some lemons or limes. Not only do they improve the taste, but they're alkaline producing and cleansing, raising your internal pH, says Graf. Your eyes and skin will appear clear and beautiful."
__Start (and end) your day off right. __
While your coffee is brewing, drink one to two glasses of water, with lemon squeezed into it. This helps wake up your metabolism, says Graf. Then, finish up the day by downing at least one glass before bed to maintain hydration and keep your valves moving.
