It took Hayden Panettiere about six months to confirm her engagement to boxer Wladimir Klitschko, but now she seems more than happy to share details about their relationship.
The Nashville star told People at the CMT Artist of the Year awards on Tuesday that she and Klitschko are buying a home in Nashville, Tennessee—the very city where her popular ABC drama takes place.
In reading her interview, we were pleasantly surprised at how wise the 24-year-old actress is about engagement, home-buying, and wedding planning. We picked out the three best pieces of advice for couples everywhere.
1. Take Your Time Picking a Home
Panettiere said that much of the Nashville cast and crew bought homes in the city "pretty immediately" after the show began shooting, but that she was slower to pull the trigger. "That's a big investment and a big commitment for something [like a TV show] that can be very fleeting," she explained. "But after a year and a half of living here, I felt that I had enough personal investment here, that I want to have a grounding here, even if something happens to the show. Knock on wood it won't! But I have amazing friends here and this just feels good as a home base."

2. Consider Your Partner's Comfort
Nashville is a natural choice for Panettiere, even though she was born in New York. With her coworkers sprinkled throughout the city and the show's huge ratings, it's about time she settle down there. But what about her Ukrainian fiancé? "He fits in anywhere. He's a very worldly man!" she excitedly shared. If she's so sure of his willingness, they clearly had a discussion about their home base.
3. Big Personalities Don't Always Want Big Weddings
"With both of our schedules, it's crazy trying to schedule anything, much less a wedding," Panettiere said before hinting at a small-scale nuptials. "I'm very shy in some ways," she says. "Obviously I'm in the spotlight professionally, but to be that vulnerable, standing up in front of people doing something so personal, that's kind of a new thing for me and not exactly in my comfort zone." We wouldn't have expected that from a star with so much personality, but she elaborated with another small wedding hint: "There are many ways to get married and we'll figure one out that is comfortable for both of us."
For someone who showed off her engagement ring with such panache (carrying a live snake onstage on LIVE with Kelly and Michael doesn't seem shy to us), we're impressed at her down-to-earth views on relationships and weddings. We can't wait to see the celebration she plans!
