When it comes to beauty looks, less is often more. The same goes for, of course, your wedding, which is why a simple and romantic half-up, half-down hairstyle is so popular amongst brides. Plus, a half-up 'do is even easier to create on your own.
In our step-by-step hair tutorial, hairstylist Matt Fugate offers useful tips for how to create a soft, wavy half-up hairstyle. The beauty of this look is that it's not only super easy to create, but you can also make it entirely your own. Want soft waves? Go for it! Tight tresses? It's totally up to you.
To start, you should use your favorite volumizing product and blow your hair out as big as possible. Then, section off your hair and tackle the curling one bit at a time. Once you pin it up to let it set, Fugate points out, this is a time to relax, hang with your girlfriends, and sip champagne. He also offers up one crucial tip: do not use hairspray at this time. If you do, it'll make your hair sticky and frizzy — exactly what you don't want!
When you let the curls down, don't be alarmed by how coiled they are. Simply brush your fingers through them to loosen them up. Last but not least, you can pull back the strands you want and either pin them, or, watch Fugate's trip for an extra-special finish.
