If the thought of planning a wedding gives you hives, you're not alone. Catie Bossard was the type of girl who never wanted to agonize over a perfect wedding dress, let alone try to narrow down a list of who could and couldn't be invited to her big day celebration. So when her boyfriend Zach Baldwin surprised her on September 16 with not only a proposal, but an already-planned wedding in one single day, she felt eternally grateful for the man she was about to spend the rest of her life with.
Bossard's proposal and wedding day were shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page, and it clearly struck a cord with many brides. More than 25,000 people reacted to the couple's heartwarming story, with a plethora of people commenting about their own spontaneous, intimate wedding details.
In the post, Bossard describes her husband's sweet, Rocky Mountain proposal. But after Baldwin slipped a diamond ring on her finger, she was surprised to hear that her "big day" was just beginning. She writes, "He told me 'Everyone is here, but I have a second question for you.' I look up and see his family and a few friends come running down to celebrate. 'I have a second question. Would you want to get married today? Everything is set up. Your dress, plans and EVERYONE is here.'"
Shocked and overcome with emotion when Bossard saw her own relatives running towards her, the bride-to-be stalled as she processed her surroundings. But sure enough, she came to her senses and responded with a "Yes. Let's do it!"
For the next few hours, the bride and her bridesmaids get ready for the ceremony as her groom and his groomsmen do the same. Everything was taken care of including the hair, makeup, ties, and suits. And let's not forget the dress! "My mom and sister picked out a dress and my two best friends Alex and Amanda picked out another," she wrote. "It was easy. Tried them both on and went with the one that I felt most comfortable in. Oh, and it was beautiful."
After getting all dolled up, the wedding party headed to the top of Vail mountain for the gorgeous ceremony. And just like that, Bossard was now a Baldwin — merely four hours after her engagement. What she had to say about her big, BIG day will melt your heart:
"I will never fully understand what was going on in Zach's head but I am certain he knows me better than anyone in this world. I never wanted a big wedding. I never wanted to spend hours finding a 'perfect dress.' I never wanted to make a guest list and think I left someone out. I never wanted to plan this 'perfect wedding' that I never wanted. What I wanted was to marry my best friend. I wanted exactly what Zach gave me. Love. Friendship. A sense of peace when he's around. Marriage is so much more than a wedding or party."
