This may be the cutest—and furriest!—wedding gift ever. Bride Keriann Watt is a self-proclaimed dog lover with a soft spot for pugs. Following the ceremony at St. Patrick’s church in Dumbarton, Scotland, with now-husband Stephen Watt, the groom surprised her with a very special gift, one that brought his bride to tears.
The emotional moment occurred as the couple and a few guests enjoyed a celebratory meal at Lodge on Loch Lomond. Watt's hubby unexpectedly stood up to gift his bride with a rubber duck, much to her confusion. As it turned out, the rubber toy was merely used as a distraction, as a dog breeder walked into the room shortly after, holding a baby pug. Cue all the awww's.
The bride, naturally, immediately burst into tears before cuddling the pup in her arms. The groom, who compared planning the surprise to a "military operation," told ABC news, “To give Keri her perfect wedding day meant that there had to be a pug. There was no way I could let that pass."
Watt couldn't help but gush over her new fur baby too. “I thought it was some sort of joke," she said. "When I saw the pug, I couldn't quite believe it. I was overcome with emotion and a little overwhelmed.”
“My obsession with pugs started easily 10 years ago,” she continued. “Due to my love for pugs, over the years, friends have indulged me with pictures, cushions, soft toys, salt shakers, etc., and when people came to our home they couldn't believe that we didn't have a real one. I can't quite believe that I have my own real one now and no longer have to stalk poor pug walkers in the parks.”
The newlyweds are set to return to Scotland this Friday, when they will drive to meet the breeder and their newest addition. As far as a name for their baby girl, the couple has yet to decide.
