Nadiya Hussain and her husband, Abdal, just proved true love is so sweet. The former Great British Bake Off winner recently tied the knot for a second time with Abdal, 14 years after their first ceremony. It goes to show that arranged marriages can (and do) work.
The baker shared the exciting news in a series of photos on Instagram, which showed off her belt-loop style silver and gold wedding ring, their macaron-topped wedding cake—worthy of a reality baking show prize— and a shot of the two signing their marriage contract.
"Nothing fancy just love," she wrote in her caption. "No frills. Just us. We did it again. I do. I always will. I would do it all over again #married #secondtime @swarovski @whiskdrizzle @abumdm."
Her husband responded to her post in a sweet message, writing in a reply, "You can't run away from me now. I love you to infinity and beyond Xxx."
The 33-year-old TV chef and author had met her husband only once before she married him at age 19. According to the Daily Mail, the traditional Islamic ceremony, which was arranged by the couple's parents, took place in Bangladesh.
"I had an arranged marriage, and learnt you have to persevere and remember we are all human and all have faults. Obviously my husband Abdal has more faults than I do! We had to live through the good and the bad, and have come out the other side,"she told Good Housekeeping in an interview last year. "Love is strange... It creeps up on you and then smacks you in the face. I didn't know my husband, and then we had two children, and then I fell in love with him."
The couple share three children together: sons Musa, 10, and Dawud, 9, and daughter Maryam, 6.
