If you didn't watch the Grammys last night, surely you've heard about them by now. From Kanye West almost repeating his "Ima let you finish" moment to Beyoncé's near-sweep of her categories, there were a ton of buzz-worthy moments. As always, though, the festivities brought us back to weddings and, most importantly in this case, wedding songs. It should be no surprise that some of the most popular tunes for receptions have won at least one Grammy Award. Naturally, we took it upon ourselves to create a playlist of the best Grammy-winning wedding songs.
The Grammys have been around since 1959, which means you can find a great song from pretty much any of your favorite music decades. Henry Mancini's classic "Moon River," winner of Song of the Year in 1961, is a great first-dance choice even if you've never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's. Natalie and Nat King Cole's timeless "Unforgettable" duet is also brilliant, while Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" is also a sentimental favorite. More contemporary Song of the Year winner choices also abound, like Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" and Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."
Great dance songs that won other awards should also definitely make it onto your playlist. Case in point: Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman," Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris's "Yeah!," and Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" have all won various trophies, and are ideal for a reception.
There are so many romantic and mood-setting tunes to choose from, and no wonder — they're all award winning! So tune into the rich history of the Grammys and start putting winning songs onto your wedding playlist now!
