From Prince Louis's baptism in Britain yesterday, to confirmation of Monaco royalty Charlotte Casiraghi's pregnancy, royal baby fever is in full swing worldwide this year.
Casiraghi, daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and granddaughter of the iconic Grace Kelly, officially verified pregnancy rumors at the end of last month while attending Monaco's Pro-Am equestrian competition, where she flaunted her baby bump with a killer maternity ensemble. The 31-year-old royal is expecting her first child with her film producer fiancé, Dimitri Rassam.
According to PEOPLE, these soon-to-be-parents and soon-to-be-newlyweds got engaged on an Austrian ski trip this past March. While the rather elusive proposal was never publicly announced, the seemingly private future bride, who is currently eleventh in line to the Monaco throne, has since been seen toting a diamond ring on her left hand. Any wedding plans so far are being kept on the D.L., including the date, but a source reported to PEOPLE that a December civil ceremony may be in the cards, followed by a larger celebration.
While this baby marks Casiraghi and Rassam's first together, both have children from previous relationships. Rassam shares a daughter, Darya, with his ex-wife, model Masha Novoselova. Casiraghi has a son, Raphael, 4, with former boyfriend, comedian Gad Elmaleh.
This will also be the third Monaco royal heir born this year—Casiraghi's older brother, Andrea, and wife Tatiana Santo Domingo welcomed their third child, Maximilian Rainier, April 19. Casiraghi's younger brother, Pierre, followed suit May 21, when his wife, Beatrice, gave birth to son Francesco. Not to mention another of Grace Kelly's grandchildren, Louis Ducruet, announced his engagement to his college sweetheart, Marie Chevallier, in February. Quite the busy year!
Congratulations to Charlotte Casiraghi and Dimitri Rassam, both on their engagement and pregnancy! We're looking forward to yet another royal wedding.
