April must be the month of celeb weddings, because another Hollywood couple just tied the knot! Gotham star Chris Chalk married his fiancée for a little over a year, Kimberley Dalton Mitchell, Saturday April 22 during an ultra-romantic ceremony.
The gorgeous couple exchanged vows in front of their close family and friends at the North Carolina Arboretum in the actor's hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. According to Us Weekly, the groom was dressed to the nines in a white suit jacket, white button-down shirt with a matching bow-tie and black pants. As for the bride, she donned a lace wedding dress with illusion cut-outs, and accessorized her hair with Jennifer Behr circlets.
Serving as best man was Underground star Alano Miller, and the maid of honor was She's Gotta Have It actress DeWanda Wise; the two were also responsible for introducing the now-married couple to each other.
Guests were instructed to dress their sexiest for the ceremony and reception, although some may have taken the dress code a little too seriously. "Our actual instruction was, 'Dress how you would dress if you knew you were going to make out with somebody that night,' " the actor said "[We] had to dial it back for some people."
Following the nuptials, the couple and their 135 guests partied the night away at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville. The best part? Guests were transported to the reception location via traditional yellow school buses. "I think there's something about a school bus that immediately humbles you. It's fun," Chalk told the publication, while Mitchell added, "We didn't want people driving up the mountain after [drinking champagne at the ceremony]."
Guests were surely kept out of their seats during the celebration, as the couple requested that their DJ play a mix of '90s R&B and today's big hits. "We told our DJ, 'Pretend you're DJ-ing for the club,' " Mitchell recalled. "That's what we want. Just trying to throw the ultimate dance party."
The perfect end to a perfect day—congrats to the happy couple!
