The day after you get engaged isn't just a good morning—it's the best of mornings. Just ask Good Morning America host Lara Spencer. The TV personality just got engaged to her love, tech entrepreneur Rick McVey.
Although the GMA host and Flea Market Flip star has kept her relationship with McVey rather private, save for a few sweet Instagram selfies, Spencer's publicist confirmed the nuptial news to People. The couple first met on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend, and have been dating for the past two years.
No word yet on how McVey—the founder and CEO of tech company MarketAxess—popped the question to his bride-to-be, but we're thinking a destination proposal is a serious possibility. This past summer, Spencer and McVey travelled to Paris together, where they snapped selfies in front of the Eiffel Tower and hit up the Hôtel Ritz Paris's famous Hemingway Bar. "The first 3 attempts at this selfie had the #eiffeltower coming out of my head like a single antenna #smallvictory #paris," Spencer cheekily captioned her and her beau's Parisian selfie.
Clearly, this is a duo who enjoys traveling together, and according to Spencer's Instagram, the TV host appears to have been vacationing in Colorado, where she's posted pics skiing and soaking up the magical mountainous scenery. This would be a pretty picturesque proposal spot, no?
This will be both Spencer and McVey's second marriages. Spencer split from her husband of 15 years, real estate broker and former CNN reporter David Haffenreffer, in 2015.
“After a lot of thought, care and consideration, we have decided to end our marriage,” the ex-couple announced at the time in a statement to Page Six, according to Us Weekly. “It’s a sad decision that did not come easily, especially because we respect and love each other and our children. They remain our top priority. We will raise them and care for them together.”
Despite the divorce, there's no love lost between Spencer and Haffenreffer, who have been successfully co-parenting their two children. Now, with this engagement, it looks like this modern family is getting even bigger.
Congratulations, Lara and Rick!
