Glossy lips has been a bridal staple forever, but now lids are getting in on the gorgeousness. This shiny, glazed look has been gracing the catwalk for the past few seasons and now fashion-forward brides are bringing this look to the aisle.

We asked to celebrity makeup artist and self-proclaimed lover of glossy lids, Katie Jane Hughes to share her top tips to pull off this stunning look with aplomb.

“There’s something about a glossy eye that’s so dreamy,” says Hughes. When worn over a pearly shade it has a very romantic, ethereal quality. While a sheer, glossy lid and a red lip reads classic, with a touch of contemporary cool.

Her best advice for brides? Less is more (especially for your wedding). Keep it simple. All you want is a little sheen.

“It’s all about what’s under it and how it’s constructed.” She recommends starting with concealer, followed by lid primer, shadow and mascara. The last step? You guessed it. Gloss! Using, a brush, gently sweep on gloss—starting at the center of the lid and moving up and down. Keep in mind that gloss does move and will crease. If that happens, simply use your ring finger to blot it.

And as with any bridal beauty look, you’ll want to do a few makeup trials. Hughes suggests testing it in a few different instances to see how it wears and how it photographs.
