Is Gina Rodriguez engaged? The Jane the Virgin star walked the 2018 Oscars red carpet this evening, and in addition to her stunning soft pink Zuhair Murad ball gown, the actress showed off some very flashy jewelry. Is that—dare we say—an engagement ring?!
Photographers captured the actress, 33, and her partner, actor Joe Locicero, in a romantic embrace on the red carpet, as Rodriguez leaned in to hold her man in a very engagement-worthy pose. And, looking closer, it's clear that she's rocking a diamond ring on that finger.
Though the couple have not yet confirmed any news of an engagement—officially—it doesn't look like marriage is too far off in their future. The pair have been reportedly dating since late 2016, and frequently appear in each other's social media posts. The two also walked the red carpet together at the SAG Awards, and were photographed holding hands and embracing each other throughout the evening. Although that diamond bling was notably missing from Rodriguez's finger at the SAG Awards, meaning that if that sparkler is in fact an engagement ring, the proposal must've occurred rather recently.
Last May, Rodriguez appeared on Live with Ryan and Kelly to talk about her show and her relationship. She told the hosts that she met Locicero on the set of Jane the Virgin, but didn't begin their romantic relationship until six months later when the two ran into each other at the gym. Sparks ensued. "It was serendipitous," Rodriguez said of her relationship during the interview. She jokingly added that she believes Locicero tracked her down and followed her to the gym.
Locicero, who is best known for his 2016 role in Spaghettiman, appeared in three episodes of Jane the Virgin over the past three years. Though his acting background isn't quite as extensive as his girlfriend's, the actor only started working in the industry four years ago, when he first appeared on Kingdom as an MMA Fighter. But if that is an engagement ring on his love's finger, it's clear that the man also has some pretty great taste in jewelry!
