Add Danny Strong to the growing list of celebrities to get engaged this holiday season! The Gilmore Girls star, who plays Doyle McMaster in the series, proposed to his girlfriend Caitlin Mehner while vacationing together in Hawaii this week — and, spoiler alert, her engagement ring is GORG.
The 42-year-old actor — who you might recognize from Mad Men, Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer or one of the many other hit shows and movies in which he stars — took to Instagram to announce his exciting engagement news, sharing a photo of his bride-to-be with her left hand over her mouth in excitement, which conveniently shows off that platinum STUNNER of an engagement ring, which appears to be a large cushion-cut diamond set on a thin pavé band.
"3 and a half years ago I saw the cutest girl I'd ever seen and got up the nerve to talk to her," Strong captioned the ring selfie. "She gave me her phone number but it was missing a digit. I was convinced she had to have made a mistake (delusional?) so I tracked her down and asked her out."
"Then last night I got up the nerve to ask her to marry me and she said yes!" he continued. "The moral of the story is never be deterred by a missing digit. Love you @mehns ❤️🍾 💍 #yes"
Strong was one of the many Gilmore Girls stars who reprised their roles for the four-part Netflix series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, People.
Mehner also shared photos from their Hawaiian vacay, including one of Strong posing on the beach and another surfside selfie of the bride-to-be kissing her fiancé's cheek — with that sparkly ring in full view. "Can I still be team Paris and Doyle forever? @strongdanny #engaged #itsofficial #peaceout2016 🍾💍👫," Mehner captioned the sweet snap, referencing the Gilmore Girls plot line of her beloved's character — in the series, Doyle McMaster was the editor of the Yale Daily News and a love interest for Paris Geller, played by How to Get Away with Murder‘s Liza Weill.
