You'd think that George Clooney, perpetual bachelor and often at the top of any "Hottest Man in Hollywood" list, could get any woman he ever wanted. So you could only imagine that when it came time for the movie star to get down on one knee and propose after 50 plus years of smoldering this earth the recipient of said proposal would barely let the guy finish and accept with absolute and total ecstatcy, right? Nope.
Turns out that when Clooney finally decided to pop the question to his now-wife Amal Alamuddin it took her a long time to give him an answer. A whole 28-minutes long.
During an interview with Charlie Rose for CBS This Morning the Tomorrowland star explains like us, Alamuddin was totally shocked by the proposal. "When I asked her, you know, we'd never talked about it....there wasn't like a, 'Maybe we should get married' [conversation]," he explained. "I dropped it on her!"
As for Alamuddin, she just sat there in disbelief, Clooney recalled. "I asked her, and she just kept saying, 'Oh my, God,' and 'Wow,' and we just sat there," he said. "And finally, I just said, 'Listen, I'm 53 at the time, or 52 at the time, I think. I said, 'I've been on my knee for about 28 minutes so I gotta get an answer out of this because I'm gonna throw a hip out!'"
He told Rose that while he may have surprised everyone with a proposal after only seven months, he knew right away that he wanted to marry her. "I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal," Clooney said.
