George Clooney is a notorious prankster and smooth talker (in addition to being a humanitarian and A-list actor), but ever since he married human rights barrister Amal Alamuddin in September, he's started wearing his heart on his sleeve — a lot. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he got downright gushy about his wife, and gave some insight into their relationship.
"She's an amazing human being and she's caring," he said last night. "And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And she's got a great sense of humor. There's a number of reasons why [I fell in love]."
They got engaged a year ago after a whirlwind romance, and George revealed that Amal's worldly intelligence was a big factor in his decision to settle down. "I'm always very proud of her when I see her speaking at the International Court of Appeals in Strasbourg [France], you know, with her robe on. It's very impressive," he said.
As for her clothing, of which he's known to pre-approve before she steps out, he said, "Since the day I met her — she's always had this insanely...it's eccentric but it's fun, sense of fashion. How she does it while she's got 11 cases she's working on? It's crazy. It has been sort of fascinating to watch, because she has such great taste."
But don't go thinking they have some perfect, Hollywood fairytale romance. In a separate interview with Extra to promote his upcoming movie Tomorrowland, George sheepishly admitted something that practically every husband has to deal with. "I watch sports, and it kills her," he said. "I got her into March Madness a little, I'm a huge Kentucky fan, so she got into that, but it was enough," he said, of his wife's sports fan limits.
