It's great to see an accessible designer like Tory Burch represented at a major red carpet event, like Monday night's Met Costume Institute Gala in New York City. The designer made a custom sleek violet, 1970's–inspired backless matte jersey gown for Olympic Gold Medal skier Lindsey Vonn. This was definitely a departure from Tory's signature spangled tunics, exuberant resort wear, and smart day dresses. Anyway, seeing Lindsey in the dress (fine, it was on Extra) reminded me of a package offered by the Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach that would be terrific for bachelorette parties. I know, I know, "Palm Beach" and "Bachelorette Party" don't seem like a logical pairing (unless Grandma's the one getting married) but hear me out: The hotel's "Girl's Night Out — Champagne and Shopping at Tory Burch Palm Beach" package would be a fun, dignified, albeit low–fi alternative to a romp in South Beach. First of all, the hotel, where I have stayed, is a historic gem, formerly an Old Hollywood playground, that is sumptuously furnished and beautifully landscaped (think palm trees and fountains). And in the Tory Burch package, if you book a Studio or One Bedroom Suite, you receive a Tory Burch a $100 gift card to use at a private shopping party at the Tory Burch boutique on one–block–away Worth Avenue. You can stock up on honeymoon attire, while the girls put the money they would have spent on drinks, transportation, and cover charges toward a great a new outfit. Rooms from $244 per night (through December 21, 2010). —Amy Elliott, Executive Editor
