And another celebrity couple bites the dust. After eight years of marriage, Fergie and Josh Duhamel are officially separating. We haven't even gotten over the loss of Anna Faris and Chris Pratt yet (the former #couplegoals duo announced their split in August), and now we have to say goodbye to another one of our favorite famous pairs? Say it ain't so!
The couple announced their separation today in a joint statement to People magazine. “With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” reads their sad message. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
The relationship between Duhamel and Fergie began when the Black Eyed Peas made an appearance on Duhamel's former NBC show, Las Vegas, where he met the singer for the first time. "I was really nervous," admitted Duhamel, remembering their first encounter on The Late Late Show With James Corden, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "It was like my moment of truth. I laid out my outfit the night before, which I'd never done in my life. So it was a big buildup when I finally got to talk to her, and all I could say was, 'You're hot.'" Smooth, Duhamel!
However, that opening line must have worked because the pair later married on January 10, 2009. Duhamel and Fergie share a four-year-old son named Axl, and even celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary together just this past January. "Happy 8th anniversary to my bae," Fergie captioned a romantic sunset selfie of her and Duhamel on Instagram. The actor also took to social media to celebrate the day, posting a photo of his smiling family. "8 years!! Love you babe," he wrote.
Pour one out for this celeb couple, y'all.
