We're used to shedding our fair share of tears over romantic proposal stories and unbelievably sweet wedding moments, but this story of one father of the bride's remarkable gesture certainly takes the (wedding) cake.
When Brittany Peck got married, she knew her father, Todd Bachman, would walk her down the aisle. But what she didn't anticipate was Bachman stopping the wedding procession at the beginning of the aisle just before leading Peck through her last steps as a single woman. Bachman then walked up to his daughter's stepfather, Todd Cendrosky, reached out his hand and pulled him down the aisle to walk their daughter down the aisle together. Cendrosky, who was not expecting the invitation, began to cry as Bachman led him by hand.
The tear-jerking moment was captured by the wedding photographer, Delia Blackburn — who admitted to crying herself as she snapped the precious moment, the New York Times reports — and posted to Facebook, where it has been shared over 500,000 times and liked by more than one million people. "So when someone acknowledges and appreciates you, it tugs at your heart," the photographer said. "It just breaks you down with emotion."
Mr. Bachman told a Cleveland television station that the family had a few tough times there over 14 years, but that he wanted to convey his appreciation to Cendrosky. "For me to thank him for all the years of helping raise our daughter wouldn't be enough," Mr. Bachman told WKYC. "There is no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking her down the aisle."
Cendrosky revealed to the TV station that he often thought about how, since he isn't the bride's biological father, he wouldn't be walking her down the aisle. "He came and grabbed my hand, and said: 'You worked as hard as I have. You'll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'" Cendrosky said. "I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life. The most impactful moment in my life."
