Your honeymoon has two things going for it that make it better than other vacations: Chances are you will spend more time than usual, and more money. (Oh, and then there's that whole thing about traveling with your new life partner. Well, that's pretty great too.) If that's you, and you love to travel, we suggest going far, far away. Here are a few ideas:
1. French Polynesia
These islands in the South Pacific are known for overwater bungalows and fish-filled lagoons that are so crystal clear you won't even need a snorkel mask to explore.
There's something exotic about these temple and rice-paddy lined Indonesian islands. You may come for the resorts and the beaches, but it's the local culture and crafts that's most likely to steal your hearts.
3. The Maldives
Most of these tiny islands in the Indian Ocean have just one resort each. Sounds amazing right? It is, and the diving is pretty spectacular too.
You can combine an urban visit to Bangkok with beach time in Phuket for the perfect one-two punch. The Buddha-filled temples are unforgettable, as are the markets, but the food always leaves up swooning. Assume you've never had real Thai food: It's better than anything you can get back home.
Fiji's thatched-roof bungalows are similar to those in French Polynesia, but they line the beach rather than sitting on stilts over the water. Be sure to sign up for local ceremonies and take in as much as the ancient tribal rituals as possible — chances are, you may not see firewalkers again anytime soon.
