This is so sad. Just eight months after revealing their engagement to the world, Evan Rachel Wood and Zach Villa have called off their engagement. According to People, a source reveals that they decided to call it quits a month ago.
The couple turned heads at the SAG awards back in January, when both were seen discreetly wearing delicate silver bands — the low-key engagement ring is so on-trend — on their left ring fingers, People reported, before receiving confirmation about the engagement from Wood's rep. The couple met in 2015 in Los Angeles, and quickly began making music together as the electro-pop duo Rebel and a Basketcase.
While neither of the stars have spoken publicly about the engagement, Villa did take to Instagram to share a pic of the couple on the SAG's red carpet. Villa has been spotted by Evan Rachel Wood's side at several other award shows this season as the 29-year-old actress celebrates her work on the critically-acclaimed HBO show, Westworld.
The actress and Villa coordinated their red carpet looks Sunday night, both choosing to rock black-and-blue tailored suits. Wood has been making headlines over the past few weeks for opting to wear sleek and sexy menswear on the red carpet instead of gowns.
"I’ve been to the Globes six times and I’ve worn a dress every time, and I love dresses. I’m not trying to protest dresses, but I wanted to make sure that young girls and women knew that they aren’t a requirement, and that you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to—to just be yourself because you’re worth more than that," she told E! during the 2017 Golden Globes.
Coincidentally, the 2017 SAG's red carpet was packed full of bridal looks — from Brie Larson's chic white gown to Viola Davis' classic ivory strapless dress — so Wood will have plenty of inspo if she decides to wear white on her big day.
Wood has previously began engaged to Marilyn Manson and was later married to Jamie Bell, before announcing their divorce in May 2014. Bell and Wood share a son.
