Eva Mendes has been relatively absent from the public eye in recent months. While her longtime love, Ryan Gosling, hit red carpet after red carpet throughout awards season for his Oscar-nominated performance in La La Land, Mendes herself was nowhere to be found. But apparently, that's exactly how she likes it.
In a new interview with Shape, Mendes revealed that she didn't feel like she was missing out in the slightest by taking in the awards shows from the comfort of her own couch, surrounded by her and Gosling's two children, Esmeralda, two, and Amada, 10 months.
"What people don't know about me is that I love being home," she told Shape. "Instead of hitting the red carpet, I'd rather be with our girls."
But, hey, Eva's not just sitting at home doing nothing. The actress revealed that chasing after two young kids is a workout in itself.
"In some ways, it’s been more challenging to get back in shape after my second daughter," she said. "Yet it’s not as hard as I thought it would be because I’m always running around with the kids. I never sit down. I’m on the move all day."
Luckily, she has a man who's completely supportive of her homebody ways and grateful for the the work she's had to take on so that he can keep on making movies. The actor even paid special tribute to his "lady" for taking the reigns at home in his speech after winning a Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy.
"I’d like to try and thank one person properly, and to say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," he said in the touching speech. "If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So, sweetheart, thank you."
