"Listen closely. Move carefully. And never make a sound. If they can't hear you, they can't hunt you."
So goes the tagline for the new horror-thriller film starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, the delightful real-life couple—they've been married since 2010—who are now taking their partnership to the big screen for the sake of a compelling story. (Krasinski is even serving as the film's director, and co-wrote the script.) Titled A Quiet Place, the first trailer has just been released and leaves the audience with more questions than answers: The premise appears to revolve around a family of four who are living a simple farm life in the middle of a vast wooded area, and viewers soon learn that they maintain absolute silence not by choice, but rather by requirement. Cue the chills.
After their son accidentally knocks over a lantern while playing a board game—eliciting, gasp, a loud sound—they begin to move into survival mode. A supernatural entity (or perhaps, entities) begins to hunt then down one by one around their farm, an entity of which seemingly has the ability to tamper with the lights and posses humans at will. What happens next is up to your imagination, as A Quiet Place's official premise has yet to be released. What we do know, though, is that it'll be in theaters in April of next year.
While the world (or maybe just us) has been dying for this IRL couple to star in a movie together, this isn't exactly the lovey-dovey romantic comedy we had in mind. Oddly enough, it actually seems like the twosome's real-life is closer to the plot of a rom-com than their fictional ones. Case in point? The rom-com hijinks that ensued when Krasinski's weird obsession with watching The Devil Wears Prada before dating Blunt came to light: "I think we had only been dating a couple weeks, and she stopped by. I didn’t know she was stopping by, so when she opened the door and came in, I quickly flipped the channel," the actor told Glamour last year.
"I’m sure she thought I was watching something completely inappropriate, and I actually chose to let her believe that than know that I had been watching The Devil Wears Prada. And then later in our relationship, she asked if I had seen The Devil Wears Prada and I said, 'Yes,' and she said, 'How many times?' And I said, 'A lot.' She said, 'What’s a lot?' And I said, '75 times.' I’m lucky enough that she stayed with me and didn’t realize that she had really married her stalker!"
