The official royal wedding invitations have been signed, sealed, and delivered as of last Thursday, but singer/songwriter Elton John has the same question as us—where is our invite!?
We will admit, Elton John has a much higher shot of landing a seat at St. George's Chapel on May 19, especially since he's pitted as one of the potential reception performers (NBD). In fact, he even cleared his current tour schedule during the royal wedding weekend, cancelling two shows in Las Vegas to be able to attend the nuptials. But, it seems like he's still left wondering whether he should book his flights to London just yet.
"We haven’t had an invitation yet," the piano man confessed to BBC Radio 2 yesterday. Join the club.
John also joked that he lives in close proximity to the Windsor wedding venue with his husband and two sons. "I live on a hill, so I could just roll down there," he added. "It’s rolling distance." Looks like we've just discovered how to crash the wedding.
All jokes aside, John's gold-ink-stamped wedding invite truly must be caught up in some sort of postal service mixup. The "Tiny Dancer" singer kept close ties with Princess Diana, and has since maintained friendships with both her sons. In fact, John may have been the first to know that Harry was in L-O-V-E with Markle to begin with. If that doesn't grant him a front row wedding seat, we don't know what will.
Whether he'll perform at the wedding is also a hot topic of debate, considering he's up against the likes of Ed Sheeran and the Spice Girls, who have all reportedly been invited to Harry and Markle's nuptials. Whoever performs, though, don't expect Queen Elizabeth to hit the dance floor.
Even if his vocals don't grace the couple's reception, we certainly hope John isn't left twiddling his thumbs at home on the wedding weekend. Hang in there, we're sure the invitation is on its way!
