The singer is clearly anticipating an invite.

Even with less than 100 days until the long-awaited royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the couple has yet to send out their Queen-approved wedding invites for their May 19 nuptials. Friends of the pair (and royal wedding fans alike) are still left wondering whether they should book their plane tickets to Windsor and pack their Sunday best. But, one celeb with longstanding ties to the royal family seems to feel pretty confident that he'll make the coveted guest-list cut—none other than Sir Elton John.

The "Rocket Man" singer might get to pack his bags pre-flight for Harry and Markle's ceremony. In preparation for the royal wedding, John cancelled two Las Vegas concerts that will fall on the same weekend, just in case he gets an invite to the wedding of the year. This comes as huge news, since John declared via live stream January 24 that he's officially retiring from touring after this round of concerts. Deemed the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour," this string of shows will come second to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 18 and 19.

The 70-year-old singer-songwriter confessed to The Sun last month that he'd like to attend the nuptials, but is still waiting for confirmation from the betrothed couple. "I don’t know. I haven’t even been—no one’s been asked," he confessed. "I’m playing in Vegas so I don’t know what’s going to happen." He added, "It will be nice because I love him very dearly," referring to Prince Harry.

But, with John's close connection to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, he's practically a shoe-in for wedding attendance. He performed an emotional rendition of "Candle in the Wind" for the People's Princess' funeral in 1997, and he has since kept ties intact with both of her sons. Prince William and Kate Middleton also invited John to their 2011 wedding, so his chances of attending Harry and Markle's seem incredibly high.

Harry also initially confided in the musician early on in his relationship with Markle. During an appearance on the Lorraine show, John revealed the moment Harry confessed his love for his now fiancée. "I spent some time with him at Google camp in Sicily last summer and I could tell that he was totally in love," he said. "He didn’t really discuss much personally, but he said ‘I’m in love,’ and I thought, good for you." If Elton John knew Harry was in L-O-V-E way before anyone else, he better get a front row wedding seat.

There's no word yet on who will perform at the royal reception but, if John attends, this may put him in the running for a potential vocal contender. Although, he might have to vie against the Spice Girls, who may or may not be reuniting at the event. But, as much as we would love Markle and Harry to hit the dance floor to a live version of "Wannabe," John's relationships with the royals would make lending his singing talents to the wedding that much more emotional. How does a first dance to an acoustic version of "Your Song" sound!?
