It's been 10 years since Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi walked down the aisle, and DeGeneres celebrated the milestone anniversary on Thursday with a touching tribute on Instagram. "Ten years ago today. This was such a special day for us," the talk show host captioned a video from August 16, 2008, sharing some of the most memorable moments from their big day.
The video opens with a visibly nervous DeGeneres, wearing a white-and-lavender silk suit, waiting for de Rossi to step outside for a first look at her in her wedding dress. When they see each other, both women begin to get emotional.
"You look beautiful," de Rossi, wearing a pink-and-white princess-style ball gown, tells her soon-to-be wife. Both women begin giggling and seem to be holding back tears. "Oh, my God, oh, my God," DeGeneres repeats as they embrace.
The clip then transitions into a slideshow of highlights from throughout the day. Some of the best—read: most happy-tear inducing!—moments include a video of them playing with their dogs, a black-and-white snapshot of them walking down the aisle, and a clip of them sitting hand in hand in white wingback chairs.
De Rossi shared the same video to her account, with the hashtags "10yearanniversary" and "marriageequality." She also shared a second post that quoted the words motivational speaker Wayne Dyer told them on their wedding day. "[Ten] years ago today, Ellen and I were married," she captioned the post. "We wanted to share Wayne Dyer's poignant and special words with you to remind us all how far we've come—that we are living in a country that supports #marriageequality."
“I'm grateful for everything. I'm grateful for my health, and I'm so grateful for the love in my life," DeGeneres has said of how happy she is in her marriage. "Because not everybody finds that. Not everybody finds that best friend."
Last year, the couple revealed that they'd be celebrating their 10th anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony in Australia. Here's hoping we get a brand new tear-jerking video from that big day sometime soon.
