Elle King just might be having the best 4th of July ever. Not only did the “Exes and Ohs” singer celebrate her 30th birthday prior on Wednesday, July 3, she revealed that her boyfriend of 15 months, Jim, popped the question!
“Happy birthday to me! I said YES!” King captioned a video of her tattooed hand, which was newly adorned with a massive round solitaire diamond, on Instagram.
The singer also shared videos and photos of herself and her family hanging by the pool on Instagram Stories.

In one clip, she gave fans another glimpse at her huge rock, making animated airplane noises as she zoomed in and out on the ring.
The musician has been dating fiancé Jim, who has a tattoo of her name in a heart on his bicep, since April 2018. King gushed over her significant on their anniversary, writing, “Proud to celebrate one year with this amazing man! I love you so much! You’ve only brought wonderful love kindness and patience into my life! I’m very lucky. Happy anniversary Powerful!”
It’s a happy ending for the songstress, who skipped out on her formal April 2017 wedding ceremony to Andrew “Fergie” Ferguson in favor of metal.
"I married Rock & Roll instead so I hopped on tour with EAGLES OF F—ING DEATH METAL," she wrote on Instagram at the time.
King later revealed when announcing her split from Ferguson in May 2017 that despite not going through with the nuptials, they had actually already tied the knot.
“You’ll always be my first husband,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.
The Grammy nominee told People in October 2018 that the former pair wed in February 2016, very early on in their relationship. “We got married three weeks to the day after we met — and you don’t know a person after three weeks,” she said. “I didn’t know him, and he didn’t know me. It was a crazy time. ... We were two young, crazy people.”
Their marriage had been top-secret—not even King's parents knew. "I thought my mom would f—ing kill me," she told the magazine.
Despite their breakup, however, she confessed that she was still hopeful about her love life. “I still, of course, believe in love. Totally. And I think that having that kind of belief and faith is what will bring goodness into your life,” she said, adding, “I’m a romantic.”
It looks like she was absolutely right—congratulations, Elle!
