Popping the question is guaranteed to be one of the most romantic moments in one's life — but factor in Ed Sheeran's smooth, tear-jerking voice and you're guaranteed to have a recipe for romantic success. So that's just what Jake Roche, from the British boyband Rixton, did when he proposed to his girlfriend and Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson.
During a soundcheck for Little Mix's Key 103 Summer Live performance at Manchester Arena on Sunday, Sheeran helped his friend and fellow musician pull of one picture-perfect proposal, the Telegraph reports. Sheeran was on stage, singing his love song Tenerife Sea, a favorite of the newly-engaged couple, when Roche surprised Nelson by dropping down on one knee.
Roche posted a photo of the engagement on his Instagram, writing: "A year ago today I met her at Manchester Arena, so it was only right, with a little help from my friend, that this happened. Best day of my life."
Nelson shared the same image, which shows Sheeran looking on at Roche, who's down on one knee proposing to Nelson, and wrote: "I cannot believe what has just happened! The most surreal moment of my life and everyone that I love most was there to share it with us! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world rite now literally cannot stop crying! Future Mrs Roche."
Roche added that Sheeran, who was on a brief break from his X tour after performing three shows in London last week, People reports, had traveled on his day off to help his friend propose. "Travelled 5 hours to sing our favourite song on his day off. I will never ever be able to repay you. Love you pal. @edsheeran," Roche wrote. Sheeran replied: "@Jake_Rixton my absolute pleasure. Thanks for the KFC."
Nelson isn't the only Little Mix member set to marry a fellow musician: Perrie Edwards has been engaged to former One Direction singer Zayn Malik since 2013. We can't wait to see what kind of musical performances take place at each couple's nuptials!
