Details: The Great Wedding Recyclery at Loft on Lake
For the last few years, the Chicago Green Wedding Alliance and Loft on Lake have hosted this event that lets couples reuse and recycle by reselling DIY décor, accessories, and other wedding details they're no longer using to couples planning their nuptials. This year's event date, typically held around Earth Day in April, is still being determined, but organizers say the sale has been so popular, they're considering adding a fall event this year as well! Catering: Big Delicious Planet
BDP became the first caterer in the country to be named a 4-star-certified green restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association in 2013, and it's no wonder why. The West Town-based company composts all food scraps and biodegradable paper goods from its events, donates used vegetable oil to a biodiesel service, and operates its own urban farm — among other progressive green practices.

Arrangements from this Logan Square florist shop use local blooms to reduce shipping energy. The florals come delivered in a fuel-efficient vehicle, and all scraps are composted. Owner and head designer Jodi Foreman also offers brides tips on being greener on her website — such as requesting flowers that are in season or planning your wedding date around when the flowers you want will be.
