The weather outside may be frightful, but last weekend was oh so delightful for Dancing With the Stars pro Louis van Amstel, who tied the knot with his sweetheart — health coach Joshua Lancaster — in a snowy winter wedding. On Sunday January 8, the couple made it #offish at Utah's Sundance Resort. Here are all of the "I do" details!
Van Amstel went from the DWTS ballroom to the snowy slopes to exchange vows with his longtime love — a dream "I do" locale for the pair. "We wanted a winter wedding," van Amstel told People. "Sundance happens to be one of the private, romantic traditions between the two of us, so it seems only fitting to host the wedding there," he explained.
So, with that, the couple and their 137 wedding guests headed to the freshly powdered lush landscape for the occasion, where they partied it up in the winter wonderland. The couple looked dapper in their deep blue and evergreen -hued suits they wore for the ceremony, while their guests donned more winter-appropriate garb.
"We had a whole group of the wedding party in mumus and Uggs on Sunday morning to stamp down the snow," van Amstel remembers. "We wanted it to be an experience, not just a decorated room."
Those weather-proofed guests included van Amstel's season 15 DWTS partner Sabrina Bryan, fellow pros Chelsie Hightower and Ashly DelGrosso, and his season nine partner Kelly Osbourne who served as — get this... — flower girl! (Sorry niece, but the too-cool Kelly is now our #1 draft pic for flower girl duties!)
After the pair was pronounced officially wed — with van Amstel's best friend Mary-Margaret Humes (yes, the very one of Dawson's Creek fame) standing beside them as "best man" — it was time for the über-romantic reception, where the pirouetting pro and his new hubs performed their first dance.
"As much as Louis dances, we'd never danced together," said Lancaster, so the pair practiced their routine during a recent Bali getaway. "It was a little bit of a mix of a cha cha, rhumba and paso doble," explained van Amstel. Would you expect anything less with a DWTS groom?
