Comedian Nick Mundy and his wife Dilara Karabas have a rock-solid marriage — literally. Mundy, a superfan of and sometime-collaborator with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, recently got the wedding of his dreams when the action film star officiated his wedding as a surprise!
Mundy, clad in a hilarious outfit, thought he was filming a bit to promote Johnson's new film San Andreas — the two have done prank promotions for several of Johnson's movies after a mega-nervous Munday made an impression during an interview in 2013 — when he walked into an all-out wedding, featuring his fiancée.
"My first thought was, 'Oh shit, oh shit. I hope Dilara is cool with this,'" Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter. "The second one was, 'I have hat hair, I'm sweating and wearing American flag pants.' And then my best man and writing partner threw my jacket on me, and the next thing I know, the Rock was walking me down the aisle and the music was starting and I signed the marriage license. The whole thing was insane."
Johnson made sure to honor Mundy's rampant fandom and his upcoming movie while performing the ceremony. "Nothing is more powerful than your union," he said while officiating. "It carries more force than a bolt of lightning or even the world's largest earthquake, much like the ones you'll see in San Andreas starring yours truly hitting theaters May 29."
Luckily for Mundy, his wife wasn't just cool with the idea, she helped coordinate the whole thing. After Johnson and Mundy's successful partnerships for other comedy bits, Andy Signore, VP of programming at DEFY, which produces Screen Junkies, got his wheels turning on how to outdo them all. He got Karabas's blessing to reach out to The Rock and got her input on how to pull of the stunt.
"Dwayne was very adamant that Nick's fiancée Dilara was involved the whole way in every step. That she approved everything," Signore told The Hollywood Reporter. "He wanted to make sure that this was her day and not just a silly thing we were doing with Nick. We wouldn't have done it if Dilara hadn't really wanted to do this, too. So she was super into it and thought it was super fun."
Judging by Mundy's reaction in the video above, the effort was well worth it. With their legal ceremony in the books, they plan to have a second ceremony for friends and family — except this time, minus Johnson — on Sept. 6.
