Any Washington, D.C., couple knows that the hottest engagement photo shoot spot is by the cherry blossoms, just after they've bloomed. Naturally, engaged dogs Sebastian and Luna decided to take advantage of the gorgeous blooming, which took place this past weekend, by starring in their very own engagement shoot for the ages.
Sebastian, a 3-year-old bulldog, and Luna, a 3-year-old Pomeranian, are the subjects of a joint Instagram account called @sebastianlovesluna. (We're obsessed.) When the dogs stopped by the National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C., their human realized it would be the perfect time to celebrate their love with an engagement shoot. "We got our engagement portraits done at the Blossoms too! 😂🌸," reads the cheeky Instagram caption on one of the photos. Although it might seem silly to some for two dogs to pose in an engagement shoot, scrolling through Sebastian and Luna's Instagram makes it clear that they really do love each other.
"Sebastian and Luna got 'engaged' last year," their owner, Emily Abril, tells Brides. "Like most engaged couples in the D.C. area they decided to get their portraits done by the cherry blossoms. It probably is the most popular spot to get portraits done at sunrise. Their outfits were specifically designed to be photographed with the cherry blossoms." For the shoot, the bride wore a pink vest with a sparkly collar. The groom sported a pale green button-down and a pink bow tie—to match Luna's look, of course.
Abril even shared an album of the shoot's "outtakes," but honestly, all the goofy shots look good enough to frame. The pair also did a costume change while walking down the streets of CityCenterDC, a downtown neighborhood in D.C. Sebastian paired his pink bow tie with a gray sweater, and Luna opted for a velvet pink top and a flowing white veil. Ah, puppy love.
"I always describe them as an old married couple. At home they have moments where they lick each other's faces then there are moments when they want their space," Abril told Brides. "Luna is very much the leader in the home. She gets what she wants. When they are out and about Sebastian takes on the leader role. On numerous occasions Sebastian has 'come to the rescue' when Luna gets uneasy about meeting other dogs. He is her protector."
Of course, it's not unheard of for human brides and grooms to include their canine companions in their own nuptials. And hey, if a pair of ducks can say "I do," then this adorable canine couple sure can, too. And based on these engagement snapshots, one thing is certain: We can't wait for Sebastian and Luna's wedding pictures.
