Few things can go wrong when trying to include your dog in your engagement photos. You can expect to have a little trouble getting your dog to stay focused and look at the camera, but you typically don’t have to worry about your pup stealing the show—unless your doggo is Louie the dachshund.

Megan Determan, owner of the cute little hot dog, just wanted to take engagement photos with her four-legged friend and her now-husband, Chris Kluthe, but the shoot quickly became less about the couple’s budding love story and more about Louie. The dachshund put on a show for the camera, frolicking in the leaves and completely blocking the couple’s shot.

Determan wasn’t at all surprised that Louie had to make it all about himself. The bride told BuzzFeed at the time that Louie sometimes has trouble sharing her with Kluthe. "If I’m snuggled up with Chris, Louie has to be right in there too," Determan said. "If I'm giving Chris a back rub, Louie wants to get one at the same time. When we were practicing our first dance the other day, he sat there and barked until I picked him up."

On top of that, Louie loves leaves, so he really couldn’t help himself when photographers Dan and Karin Berdal of DnK Photography set the scene. "I found out a couple falls ago that he loves leaves, so every year, we make a pile for him and watch and laugh," Determan said. "I wasn't surprised he was putting on a show for them, but I loved watching our photographers laugh."

The Berdal’s posted a photo of one of Louie’s best shots to Facebook with the caption,”We love it when couples include their pets in engagement photos.... but maybe this guy was having too much fun : ).”

Karin told BuzzFeed, "We could tell it was absolutely hysterical, even in the small version on our camera."

Lucky for this couple, they didn’t have to worry about Louie stealing the show again on their actual wedding day, since the dog didn’t score an invite. "Chris jokes that it's my day, not Louie's," Determan said.

But according to Facebook, Louie was at least well represented on his humans' big day. The couple had a cardboard cutout of Louie at their wedding!
