It's a classic wedding rule that, unless you're the bride, don't wear white. But, Hollywood is shaking up the wedding dress code rules. The latest trend for famous mothers of the bride — from Kris Jenner to Tina Knowles to, most recently, Diana Ross — is to match their bridal daughters with outfits in white, ivory or off-white.
At her daughter's Hawaii wedding this past Sunday, 71-year-old Ross wore a low-cut ivory Vivienne Westwood Red Label gown, People reports, adding a silver statement necklace to the draped design. Ross was photographed standing next to her daughter Chudney, who opted for a ballgown dress with a full tulle skirt and sweetheart neckline.
While Kim Kardashian stunned in a long-sleeved, lace Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci mermaid silhouette at her May 2014 wedding to Kanye West, mom Kris Jenner wore a plunging white gown that matched the rest of the white-clad bridal party. Not only that, but in a recent sentimental Instagram, Jenner shared a throwback snap of West and the Kardashian-Jenner women, noting in a hashtag that her day-of dress was designed for her by none other than her future son-in-law.

The Knowles family is also a fan of the all-white wedding look. At Solange's New Orleans nuptials to video director Alan Ferguson in November 2014, while the bride wore a Humberto Leon gown with a dramatic cape (and a floor-sweeping train) and gold cuffs at her wrists, mother-of-the-bride Tina selected a striking white Lanvin gown.
