If you need a little something to hold you over until Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas's pending nuptials, how about a lavish, multi-day affair in Lake Como, Italy, to celebrate the wedding of Bollywood superstars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh? (Did you ever think something could give Chopra and Jonas's Jodhpur palace as a venue a run for its money?)
Chopra's Bollywood comrades married Wednesday in Italy in a stunning white-themed Konkani (South Indian) ceremony in Como's Villa del Balbianello, according to The Indian Express. Prior to the ceremony the couple held a traditional Mehendi and Sangeet, and, on Thursday, the two also held a red-themed Sindhi ceremony. The affair was reportedly incredibly intimate with Indian outlet NDTV reporting that only 45 people made the guest list.
On Thursday, Padukone shared the first gorgeous looks at the nuptials, posting two photos to Instagram from each of their ceremonies. In the photo from the Konkani event, Singh, adorned in a red garland, laughs while holding a necklace for his new wife as Padukone looks on and smiles; in the second image from the Sindhi ceremony, the two seem to be whispering to each other. Neither image shows off Padukone's full outfits (the brides and groom both wore head-to-toe Sabyasachi) but fans can catch a glimpse at her larger-than-life tikka, elaborate jewelry and ornate red veil. Singh complemented his bride in a red and gold kurtha and turban.
While the couple has gone to great lengths to keep paparazzi and fans at bay, a few other images and videos of Padukone and Singh's nuptials are still making the rounds on social media. In the clips, the actress appears to be wearing a golden saree and her new husband is dressed in all white as they hide behind umbrellas and board a boat.
The newly-married pair has been dating for six years and announced their wedding less than a month ago on Instagram. "We thank you for all the love you have showered upon us over the years on this incredible journey of love, loyalty, friendship and togetherness," the note, posted on October 21, read.
Many fans have also noted that their wedding date holds special significance: The film the couple met and began dating on, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, premiered on November 14, 2013.
It seems Lake Como, though, doesn't hold any special meaning for the couple, but the spectacular region has previously been home to many celebrity weddings from George and Amal Clooney to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Of late, Bollywood stars like Anushka Sharma and cricket player Virat Kohli have been forgoing wedding events in India, instead flocking to Italy in favor of quieter affairs.
The Lake Como ceremonies will not be the last of Padkoune's and Singh's celebrations. The pair also reportedly plans to hold a reception in Deepika's hometown, Bangalore, on November 21 and another party for their Bollywood friends in Bombay on November 28.
