We're squealing with Glee. Darren Criss is engaged! The actor, who previously starred in FOX's musical-comedy and now FX's upcoming series, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, just revealed that he's set to be wed via an adorable announcement on Instagram.
After seven years together, Criss and his longtime girlfriend Mia Swier are tying the knot. Posting an absurdly cute shot of himself and his love (twinning pose and all!) to the 'Gram, Criss announced his nuptial news by writing in the caption, "Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together. And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage. 🚀💍🖖"
It's official! These two are getting hitched! (And are apparently Star Trek enthusiasts. Who knew?)
Although Criss didn't reveal the exact date he popped the question, PEOPLE reported that Criss and Swier were last spotted on the red carpet at the January 8 premiere party for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. It's worth noting that the bride-to-be's left ring finger (yes, that finger) was without an engagement sparkler, so the proposal might have taken place sometime after.
The actor hasn't publicly gushed much about his love, but in a 2013 interview he did explain the history behind his relationship with Swier just a bit. “Oh yeah, we’ve been together a long time,” Criss said, according to PEOPLE. “I didn’t know I was going to be on TV when we started dating.”
The couple also occasionally offers precious peeks into their relationship via social media. On Halloween for instance, Criss revealed their couple's costume that couldn't have been more romantic: Romeo and Juliet (the 1996 adaptation, specifically!)
Here's hoping these two live long and prosper!🖖
