Green Bay Packers’ player Danny Vitale knows how to win big both on and off the field—the football player’s wedding to Tampa Bay Lightning hockey reporter Caley Chelios was one for the books!
The couple tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony over the weekend, and every element was seemingly straight out of a fairytale.
The bride, who is the daughter of Stanley Cup champion Chris Chelios, looked gorgeous in a jaw-dropping Reema Acra gown with an embroidered lace bodice and skirt, which featured a sheer overlay. A long white veil extended the length of her dress.
“Getting to see Caley for the first time, walking down The Peninsula Chicago’s staircase, was incredible,” Vitale told People. “She looked absolutely beautiful.”
Caley’s bridesmaids, meanwhile, also wore white gowns by Amsale, albeit with varying necklines.
Plenty of famous faces, including John Cusack, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Kid Rock and Eddie Vedder were on hand at the affair, which was held at Saint James Chapel in Chicago’s Gold Coast.
“Our wedding was the most magical day from beginning to end,” the bride told the outlet. “My favorite moment was getting to see Danny for the first time, standing at the bottom of the grand staircase at The Peninsula. I could not have dreamed of a more perfect moment.”
The nuptials were a dream come true in more ways than one: In addition to exchanging vows with his longtime love, the athlete, who has been playing guitar for years, took to the stage for his first-ever show to perform Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So” along with the actual band!
“Watching Danny perform on stage with the band was everything; he looked like a rockstar!” the journalist said.
Vitale shared a video from his big moment via Twitter, writing, “Just 1 of the many highlights from our wedding this weekend! Pretending to be a rockstar one hell of a f**king party!”
In addition to their very own private rock show, guests at the Peninsula Hotel Chicago reception, which was decorated with blush and dusty pinks and creams and chandeliers, were also privy to a delicious meal.
Dishes of saffron risotto with fresh veggies from a farmer’s market were served, as well as entrees of either citrus glazed Chilean seabass or herb-marinated beef tenderloin. For dessert, chocolate chip cookies, mini cannoli and Baklava were on hand.
“Every single moment from our day together felt like it was out of a fairytale,” Caley told the magazine.
Added Vitale: “Overall, the whole experience was above and beyond what I could have imagined. We cannot stop replaying the whole weekend in our heads. It shocked us both!”
