Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on the fast track to marriage! The NASCAR driver is engaged to his girlfriend of six years, Amy Reimann, after a meaningful proposal in his family's ancestral hometown in Germany.
Reimann announced the exciting news on her Twitter account today with a photo of her and her brand-new fiancé in a church his predecessors had attended 300 years ago. "I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr," she Tweeted.
Earnhardt Jr. echoed her sentiments with a tweet of his own, saying, "Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl."
Though the duo shot down multiple engagement and elopement rumors over the years, the most recent being three months ago, Earnhardt Jr. reportedly held out due to his phobia of wearing jewelry.
"We've talked about it," he told USA Today in February of getting married and his unusual fear. "I'm not going to be held accountable (to wear a ring) and she can do whatever she wants. I figure if we ever get to that step in life, I owe her that much. I'll have to put up with (her wearing a ring). But I'm free of all my obligations in that regard."
It looks like he at least got over any reservations about his future wife wearing an engagement ring. He presented her with the bauble while in Germany to research his family's history and genealogy in the area. We're sure his father, the late racecar driver Dale Earnhardt Sr., would be proud!
