We all love Costco's ridiculously enormous product packaging sizes and countless free samples, but this couple really (I mean, really) loves Costco—so much so that they decided to have a Costco wedding. No, not a Costco-themed wedding, they got married inside one of the chain's actual stores.
When newlyweds Sue Berkley and Eli Bob were deciding on the perfect venue for their big day, they figured that no locale would be more appropriate than their favorite grocery retailer. This weekend, the couple made that dream a reality and tied the knot in front of 90 of their family and friends (and some random Costco shoppers) in none other than the Costco Crossroads at Casula food court in Sydney, Australia.
"I get to go to Costco on my wedding day. It's just awesome," Berkeley told A Current Affair. "Where else can I get married to the one I love, in the place that I love, surrounded by the people I love?"
Decked out in a purple gown, the bride walked down the tire aisle to meet her now-husband under a floral canopy next to the food court. After exchanging vows, they joined their guests for a reception dinner, which of course consisted of the food court's famous hot dogs, 18-inch pizzas, and sheet cake. The best part? The entire affair cost the couple less than $10 a head.
"The initial idea of the wedding was meant as a bit of a joke," she said. "I've got a big family and so does he, and I wondered how we were going to do it. Then I thought I should get married at Costco because I'm there all the time—so it just made sense."
And you thought you were the biggest Costco fan.
