CNN justice correspondent Jessica Schneider and her fiancé, Adam Harrison, met in Washington, D.C., in 2017, so when they got married last Saturday night, they chose to pay a sweet homage to the city that brought them together. The couple spoke with People and shared all of the little decor details from their big day that evoked the spirit of the nation's capital, including D.C. table designs and a cartoon of the two of them posing against the D.C. cityscape background.
The celebration went down at District Winery in Washington, followed by an after-party at Bluejacket Brewery. Schneider, who wore a sleek Romona Keveza gown and a flowing veil with black trim, told People that even though there was a little D.C. drizzle, her photographer snapped a few photos at some of the most iconic Washington landmarks.
“Washington was a bit wet and rainy on Saturday night, but the weather held out long enough for us to get amazing pictures at the Jefferson Memorial, my favorite monument,” she said. “The wedding was a joyous occasion with friends and family in abundance and they all danced the night away!”
The celebration also included tasty local treats. The newlyweds shared that they had their two-tier chocolate wedding cake with cream-cheese buttercream filling made at the bakery Savvy Treats, run by Cheryl Savastano in Rockville, Maryland. Photos of the event also offer a glimpse at their rustic decor, like flower-filled barrels and twinkling lights.
“The venue was perfect to make it feel like an intimate evening with our close friends and family,” Harrison said, adding that their 165 guests "had a blast" and "couldn’t stop talking" about how personal ceremony was.
And perhaps the best part? The couple invited the mascots from the Washington Nationals to make an appearance at the cocktail hour. How very wonderfully D.C.
